Dieperink had originally been named among the match officials selected for this summer's tournament before FIFA axed him from the roster following his arrest in the United Kingdom.

The arrest came while he was in England to take charge of a UEFA Conference League fixture between Crystal Palace and Fiorentina. He was detained in connection with an allegation of sexual assault involving a teenage boy.

A long career in Dutch football

Dieperink began his professional refereeing career in 2012 and joined the Eredivisie officiating panel in 2017. He also served as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at the 2024 Euros held in Germany, underlining his standing at the highest levels of European football.
