Norway have been forced to switch hotels ahead of their FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final against England, with construction noise and a reportedly inadequate distance from the beach among the reasons cited for the move.

The Norwegian squad had originally been scheduled to stay at the Dalmar Hotel in Fort Lauderdale during preparations for one of the most significant matches in their football history. However, after raising concerns with FIFA, the national side relocated to an undisclosed property with the organisation's assistance.

Noise and logistics prompted the switch

The Miami Herald first reported the hotel change, with Norway's TV2 subsequently providing more detail on what led to the decision. The Dalmar Hotel's proximity to an active construction site disrupted the squad's rest, and Norway's logistics team decided the situation was unacceptable given the magnitude of the occasion.

In a candid moment, TV2 also noted that the original hotel's distance from the beach was a secondary factor in the relocation — adding an unexpectedly lighthearted dimension to the story.
