Thomas Partey denied entry into Canada
Ghana have been dealt a significant blow ahead of their opening World Cup match against Panama on Thursday, June 18. Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been refused a Canadian visa, effectively barring him from participating in the tournament.
The decision is linked to criminal charges pending against the Villarreal player, who has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lodged an official note of protest with Global Affairs Canada, though it remains unclear whether the visa refusal will be overturned in time for that opening fixture.
