Sir Geoff Hurst, the only man to score a hat-trick in a FIFA World Cup final, has named Alan Shearer as the England striker whose style most closely matched his own.

Speaking on the morning of the 2026 World Cup opening match, the 84-year-old told FourFourTwo that while England's great No.9s were each distinct individuals, Shearer stood out as his nearest comparison.
