Slot and Salah United in Pursuit of Best Outcome for Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has insisted there is no rift between himself and Mohamed Salah, saying both men share the same desire to see the club succeed as the season draws to a close.

Salah's recent social media post raised eyebrows, appearing to criticise the team's playing style and calling for a return to a more intense, high-energy approach. Yet Slot, speaking to the club's official website, moved swiftly to dismiss any suggestion of a deeper conflict.

"I think Mo and I have the same interest — we want the best for this club. We want the club to be as successful as possible. We were both part of giving the fans their first league title in five years — but we are also aware of this season."

Slot acknowledged the noise surrounding the post but pointed to the squad's strong week of preparation as evidence that the dressing room remains focused. "I don't know if it had an impact on the group. What I have seen is the team have trained really well this week," he said.

Farewell atmosphere at Anfield

Sunday's home fixture against Brentford carries significant emotional weight. Both Salah and Andy Robertson are expected to say their goodbyes to supporters after the final whistle, with the pair set to depart the club at the end of the campaign.

Slot hinted that Salah could feature in the match, though he declined to confirm team selection outright. "Will he play? I never say anything about team selection, so I won't do that now," the manager said.

Slot made clear that finishing the season on a positive note is the priority, both for the fans who reacted warmly to Salah's post and for everyone connected to the club. "We want to end with a win," he said. "Too many disappointments for us and the club and the fans and staff and players."

Champions League focus

Beyond the sentimentality, Slot stressed that the result against Brentford has a direct bearing on Liverpool's positioning heading into next season, with UEFA Champions League qualification providing the backdrop to Sunday's contest.

"The game on Sunday could give us a really good base heading into next season. That is where we should focus."

Brentford, who also have their own targets to chase, arrive at Anfield with plenty of motivation — making it a fixture with genuine stakes at both ends of the pitch.
