Swedish club AIK Stockholm have said goodbye to teenage winger Zadok Yohanna following his transfer to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, where he has signed a five-year contract running until June 2031.
Brighton confirmed the deal on Saturday, though the transfer fee remains undisclosed. Yohanna, who is 18 years old and turns 19 before the end of the month, will officially join the squad when the transfer window reopens, subject to the standard regulatory approvals.
A rapid rise through Swedish football
Yohanna began his footballing journey at the Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria before relocating to Sweden in 2025. He adapted swiftly to European football, progressing from AIK's U19 side to the first team and making his senior debut against IFK Göteborg on August 17, 2025.
Across all competitions this season, he has made 18 appearances for AIK, contributing five goals and four assists. In the league alone, he registered two goals and three assists in seven outings — a return that drew attention from clubs across the continent and cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting young prospects in European football.
AIK praise departing star
AIK Football's Head of Recruitment, Miika Takkula, paid tribute to Yohanna and framed the transfer as part of the club's broader strategic direction.
