Lovren Labels Carragher's Salah Criticism 'Disgusting' in Scathing Rebuke
Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has launched a fierce public attack on Jamie Carragher, describing the Sky Sports pundit's treatment of Mohamed Salah as "disgusting."
Salah endured a turbulent final campaign at Anfield, marked by a public falling-out with then-manager Arne Slot. Carragher had used his television platform to label Salah's conduct a disgrace, arguing the Egyptian star placed personal interests above the club and sought to destabilise it during a difficult period.
Speaking on the WinWin podcast, Lovren hit back hard — accusing Carragher of chasing attention rather than offering genuine analysis.
"The way they treated him this season is not harsh. It's disgusting. Why didn't they talk about him like this for the past eight or nine years? Tell me… OK, one season, and then he's the target again."
Lovren went further, suggesting some pundits resort to controversy out of personal frustration.
"Some pundits do it just to attract attention, maybe because they haven't succeeded in other areas of their lives, so now they need to perform well… especially Carragher, he says whatever he wants."
The former centre-back also challenged Carragher to say his criticisms directly to Salah's face — something Lovren believes will never happen.
"I always said he should tell him this to his face, say all these things to Mo to his face. He'll never say that. Because I know he never will, because he never said it to me. He's talked badly about me too, but he never said that to me anyway. You know, he's just performing on TV and he gets paid for it, so he needs to perform this way."
Salah's Liverpool legacy
Salah departs Liverpool F.C. as one of the club's greatest ever players. Across nine seasons at Anfield, he scored over 250 goals and contributed more than 120 assists, winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League along the way.
He also made history in English football, becoming the first player to claim three PFA Player of the Year awards, while securing the Golden Boot on multiple occasions — a record that underscores just how dominant his time at the club was.
