Owen Oseni has described his Super Eagles debut at the 2026 Unity Cup in London as a moment he and his family will cherish forever, after becoming the first Irish-born player to represent Nigeria at international level.
The Plymouth Argyle striker came off the bench in the 77th minute of Nigeria's semi-final victory over Zimbabwe's Warriors, replacing Samson Tijani. He then made a second substitute appearance in the Eagles' final fixture of the tournament against Jamaica's Reggae Boyz.
A historic milestone
The 23-year-old, who was born in Ireland, has elected to represent Nigeria internationally — and his Unity Cup outings have now cemented his place in Super Eagles history as the first player from Ireland to pull on the green-and-white shirt.
