Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend has urged Christian Eriksen to seriously consider retiring from football after the Danish midfielder collapsed on the pitch during a friendly against Ukraine on Sunday.
Eriksen went down and received urgent attention from medical staff in alarming scenes. He was conscious and managed to walk off the field, though the match was eventually abandoned. The incident occurred almost five years to the day after Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark's Euro 2020 group stage clash against Finland.
Townsend speaks out
Speaking on talkSPORT's Breakfast show, Townsend — a former Tottenham Hotspur teammate of Eriksen — was candid when asked whether he would advise the 34-year-old to hang up his boots.
