Tunisia Crushed 5-0 by Belgium in World Cup Warm-Up Disaster

-6 d·1 min

Tunisia's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup ended on a dire note, as the Carthage Eagles were thrashed 5-0 by Belgium in their final warm-up fixture ahead of the tournament.

The result leaves Tunisia winless in their last three outings — drawing one and losing two — heading into one of the biggest stages in international football.

Belgium opened the scoring midway through the first half, with Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard finding the net. Charles de Ketelaere doubled the advantage on 53 minutes, and Tunisia's evening grew considerably worse shortly after when midfielder Ismael Gharbi was dismissed following a second yellow card just past the hour mark.

Playing against ten men, Belgium pressed home their superiority. Kevin de Bruyne and Dodi Lukebakio both added to the tally, before Raskin rounded off a comprehensive victory to complete the 5-0 rout.

Tunisia now head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup carrying serious questions about their form and resilience. They have been drawn in Group F alongside Sweden, Japan, and the Netherlands — a challenging assignment that leaves no room for the kind of defensive frailties exposed by Belgium.

The Carthage Eagles open their World Cup campaign against Sweden on June 15.
