Zadok Yohanna Signs for Brighton on Five-Year Deal

Brighton and Hove Albion have confirmed the capture of Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK Stockholm, with the 18-year-old signing a five-year contract that runs until June 2031 on undisclosed terms.
The Premier League club announced the deal on their official website on Saturday, describing Yohanna as one of the most exciting young prospects in European football following a standout campaign in Sweden's top division.
Yohanna, who turns 19 later this month, began his footballing journey at the Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria before relocating to Sweden in 2025. He adapted quickly to European football at AIK, making 18 appearances across league and cup competitions this season, scoring five goals and contributing four assists.
The deal will be formalised when the transfer window reopens, subject to the standard regulatory approvals.
Competition for the winger's signature
Brighton were not the only club chasing the Nigerian talent. Newcastle United had also been keen on securing Yohanna's services, while Chelsea were reportedly monitoring him as well. Ultimately, it was the Seagulls who won the race — a club with a well-established reputation for developing and trusting young players.
Yohanna's arrival represents another bold move in Brighton's ongoing strategy of identifying high-potential players early, and Nigerian football fans will be watching closely as he prepares to make his mark in the Premier League.
