Aberdeen have kicked off their summer rebuild with the signings of defenders Lewis Mayo and Brad Lyons from Kilmarnock, alongside Austrian midfielder Alexander Briedl from Blau-Weiss Linz.

Mayo, a 26-year-old Scottish defender, has committed to a three-year deal at Pittodrie, while Northern Ireland international Lyons, 29, and Briedl have each signed two-year contracts.

The trio represent manager Stephen Robinson's first recruits of the summer transfer window, arriving as the club looks to rebuild following the departure of captain Graeme Shinnie. The 34-year-old midfielder has returned to Inverness Caledonian Thistle after his time at Aberdeen.

Robinson expressed confidence in all three signings, saying Briedl "brings many of the qualities" he is looking for in a midfielder and that the Austrian will prove a "good fit" for the Scottish Premiership.

On Lyons, Robinson highlighted the midfielder's "real competitive edge and strong leadership qualities," pointing to his experience as a key factor. The Aberdeen manager also praised Mayo, describing him as a player the club has "admired for some time" because of his consistency and professionalism at Kilmarnock.

The three arrivals signal Aberdeen's intent to reshape their squad ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign in the Scottish Premiership.
