Crystal Palace have secured the signing of Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer, with the Spanish defender arriving from Celta Vigo on a four-year deal, pending international clearance.

The 27-year-old becomes the first arrival of the summer under new head coach Pierre Sage, who was appointed to the role on a three-year contract in June.

Mingueza came through Barcelona's celebrated La Masia academy and went on to make 66 appearances for the senior side after his debut in 2020. He then moved to Celta Vigo in 2022, where he established himself as one of the division's more dynamic defenders, contributing seven goals and 15 assists across 147 appearances.

The versatile defender — capable of playing across the backline — expressed his enthusiasm for the move, describing it as an honour to join Crystal Palace and saying he is genuinely excited to play at Selhurst Park.

International pedigree

Mingueza has represented Spain on four occasions at senior international level, though he was not selected in manager Luis de la Fuente's 26-man squad for this summer's World Cup.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish welcomed the signing warmly.
