Elliot Anderson Dugub Manchester City ak Deal Rekord £116m

Elliot Anderson has sealed his move to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £116 million, making him the most expensive British player in football history.

The 23-year-old midfielder surpasses Jude Bellingham as the record holder, edging out the £115m Real Madrid paid to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023. The only transfers to have cost more in Premier League history are Liverpool's £125m acquisition of Alexander Isak and their £116.5m signing of Florian Wirtz last summer.

Medical completed at the World Cup

Anderson received special clearance from the England national team to undergo his Manchester City medical on Sunday, fitting it in between World Cup fixtures. He has started all four of England's matches at the tournament so far — a run that underlines how indispensable he has become for the Three Lions.

Manchester City confirmed in an official statement that Anderson completed the medical in Kansas, and that the remaining paperwork will be finalised once he returns from the World Cup. The club extended their best wishes to him and the entire England squad for the remainder of the tournament.

A complete midfielder

Anderson started every Premier League match for Nottingham Forest last season, contributing four goals and four assists across 37 appearances. He ranked among the top five players in the division for both tackles and passes — a testament to his effectiveness at both ends of the pitch.

Sky Sports News reporter Ben Ransom described Anderson as a player who would thrive under any manager.
