Morocco have received a significant injury setback on the eve of the FIFA World Cup, with winger Abde Ezzalzouli facing the prospect of missing the entire tournament after sustaining a knee injury during the Atlas Lions' final warm-up fixture.
The Real Betis forward was withdrawn at half-time of Morocco's 1-1 draw against Norway on Sunday, with reports indicating he has suffered a sprained internal knee ligament that could sideline him for three to four weeks — a timeframe that would rule him out of the competition altogether.
Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui also departed that match early with a partial shoulder dislocation, though the outlook for his recovery is considerably more optimistic. Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi acknowledged the concern over both players after the Norway friendly.
