Nasarawa United Chairman Babanjah Sets Sights on CAF Confederation Cup After Penalty Win Over Rivers United

Nasarawa United chairman Solomon Babanjah has declared that continental qualification is now the club's primary objective following their Round of 16 penalty shootout victory over Rivers United in the President Federation Cup.

The tie was played at the Awka City Stadium on Saturday, June 6, with Nasarawa United progressing after surviving a dramatic late fightback from Rivers United. The President Federation Cup title earns the winners a place in the CAF Confederation Cup — making this competition all the more critical for Babanjah's side.

A tough season drives cup ambitions

Nasarawa United's domestic league campaign unravelled mid-season after the departures of key players including Anas Yusuf, Garba Mohammed, and Ekeson Okorie. Babanjah acknowledged the disruption, but insisted the Federation Cup represents the club's best remaining route to continental football.
