Djed Spence, Jarell Quansah, and Ezri Konsa were identified as right-back alternatives. Tuchel explained that the call-up of centre-back Trevoh Chalobah — rather than a specialist full-back — was designed to allow Quansah to operate at right-back, with the Liverpool defender having impressed the coaching staff in that role. Tuchel also pointed to Konsa's capability in the position.

Rice and Anderson pass fitness tests

Friday evening reports raised concerns over Elliot Anderson, but Tuchel confirmed the Nottingham Forest midfielder completed a full training session and will be available. Declan Rice, who picked up a calf knock in the Ghana match, has also been cleared to play.

Rice does, however, carry a yellow card into the Panama game, leaving him one booking away from a suspension that would rule him out of the round of 32. Tuchel said he trusts the Arsenal midfielder to manage the situation on the pitch.
