Abdulhamid Stands Alone as Saudi Arabia's Only Europe-Based Player at World Cup

Roma defender Saud Abdulhamid is the only player based outside Saudi Arabia in the country's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer, with coach Georgios Donis relying heavily on the domestic Saudi Pro League for his selection.
Abdulhamid, currently on loan at Lens — where he lifted the Coupe de France last season — is the sole representative from European football in a group otherwise drawn entirely from Saudi club sides.
Al Dawsari set for third World Cup
Al Hilal captain Salem Al Dawsari, 34, will appear at his third World Cup having featured in both the 2018 and 2022 editions. The veteran winger remains a central figure in the national setup under Donis.
Group H fixtures
Saudi Arabia open their campaign in Group H on 15 June against Uruguay, before facing 2010 champions Spain on 21 June. They wrap up the group stage against Cape Verde on 27 June.
The tournament is co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with the opening match scheduled for 11 June.
