Advocaat Refuses to Hang Head After Curaçao's 7-1 Defeat to Germany

2 days ago·1 min

Dick Advocaat has brushed aside any notion of disgrace following Curaçao's 7-1 hammering by Germany in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group E opener in Houston on Sunday.

The 78-year-old — the oldest coach to appear at a World Cup finals — watched his side concede six unanswered goals after Livano Comenencia's deflected strike briefly drew the Caribbean nation level at 1-1. Nico Schlotterbeck, Kai Havertz with two goals, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, and Deniz Undav all got on the scoresheet to extinguish any hope of a historic upset.
