Ajayi Revels in Hull City's Historic Win Over Manchester United

1 hour ago·2 min

Semi Ajayi has spoken warmly about Hull City's commanding 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday, describing the experience as "amazing" and celebrating his own place in the club's history.

The Nigeria international broke the deadlock at the MKM Stadium in the 17th minute, reacting sharply to convert the rebound after Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens had kept out an Oli McBurnie effort from a corner. The strike carried special significance — it was Hull City's first Premier League goal in nine years.

Ajayi's pride in a historic moment

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Ajayi reflected on the importance of his goal to the team's rhythm and confidence. "It was amazing. It kind of capped off the really good start that we had. We had a couple of chances before that which we didn't manage to put away, but obviously that one got us into the lead, and also gave us something to protect, but also build on," he said.

The centre-back made no secret of his personal satisfaction either. "I'm buzzing to get the goal to get us underway. I'm happy it left us getting three points," he added.

Hull City must stay grounded

Despite the scale of the result against Michael Carrick's side, Ajayi was quick to urge Sergej Jakirović's squad to keep their feet on the ground and block out external distractions.

"We're not really focusing on outside noise. We're just worried about what goes on in the changing room. We know what we've got in the changing room, we believe in ourselves, and we back ourselves to do our best every single day," the defender said.

He closed with an eye firmly on the rest of the campaign: "More performances like this, and hopefully, we'll have a really, really positive season."
