Akinsamiro's Pisa Move Falls Through as Bundesliga Clubs Eye Nigerian Midfielder

Ebenezer Akinsamiro is set to return to Inter Milan after his proposed permanent move to Serie B side Pisa collapsed at the final stage, with Bundesliga clubs now emerging as potential suitors for the Nigerian midfielder.
What went wrong with the Pisa deal
Pisa had been ready to activate the €7.5 million purchase option included in Akinsamiro's loan agreement, but the deal broke down during the exchange of official documents — leaving both parties empty-handed despite the option having been formally exercised.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano shed light on the breakdown, as quoted by FCInter1908: "The Akinsanmiro purchase option collapsed due to a problem between the clubs, the option had been exercised but it fell through at the documents stage. Inter are now evaluating other offers for the midfielder."
Akinsamiro spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Pisa, where he made 24 appearances and contributed one assist across the campaign.
Bundesliga interest grows
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, multiple Bundesliga clubs have been tracking the 21-year-old's situation closely in the wake of the collapsed deal. Inter Milan are now weighing up their options, with both another loan move and a permanent sale to a different club on the table for this summer's window.
Akinsamiro joined Inter Milan from Remo Stars — then competing in the Nigeria Premier Football League — in January 2023, putting pen to paper on a four-year contract. He is a graduate of the Beyond Limits Academy and previously spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Sampdoria.
The defensive midfielder was named in Nigeria's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations but did not play a single minute during the tournament.
