The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2026/27 First Preliminary Round delivered a flurry of results across the continent on Saturday, with Al Hilal Omdurman and Mangasport emerging as the standout performers of the day.

Al Hilal and Mangasport impress on opening weekend

Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman traveled to Burundi and returned with a commanding 2-0 win over Aigle Noir, putting themselves in an excellent position ahead of the home return leg next weekend.

Gabon champions Mangasport were equally dominant on home soil, sweeping aside Namibia's African Stars 3-1 to build a healthy two-goal cushion before the second leg.

Tunisia's Club Africain edged past Mali's Djoliba 1-0 and carry a narrow lead into the away fixture, while Madagascar's CFFA secured a 2-0 home win over Lesotho's Lijabatho to set up a comfortable position heading into their return trip.

South Sudan's El Merriekh Bentiu also registered a 1-0 home victory against Somalia's Heegan, keeping their campaign on track.

Teungueth earn vital away result

Senegal's Teungueth were among the sides to earn a precious away win, defeating Guinea-Bissau's FC Canchungo 1-0. With the return leg on home soil, they are well placed to advance to the next round.

Sudan's Al Merreikh claimed a 1-0 home win over Zambia's Power Dynamos but face a stern test when the tie switches to Zambia for the decider.

Draws leave ties in the balance

Several contests remain wide open after the first legs. Vipers of Uganda and Mauritania's FC Nouadhibou shared a 1-1 draw in Kampala, meaning the return fixture in Mauritania will be decisive.

Côte d'Ivoire's FC San Pedro and Nigeria's Rivers United also played out a 1-1 draw, giving Rivers United the advantage of hosting the second leg.

Botswana's Gaborone United came close to a notable scalp against Tanzanian heavyweights Young Africans, but the sides settled for a 1-1 draw. The tie will be resolved at the return match in Dar es Salaam.

Goalless draws between Chad's Aiglons and Ethiopia's Sidaama Buna, and between Sierra Leone's Star Sport Academy and The Gambia's Medina United, leave those ties completely open ahead of next weekend.
