Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad have lodged an official bid for Club Brugge defensive midfielder Raphael Onyedika, throwing themselves into a transfer contest that already features Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Al-Ittihad submitted a formal offer to the Belgian Pro League champions in a bid to land the Nigeria international, who has attracted significant interest ahead of the summer window.

Frankfurt agree personal terms, Brugge hold firm

Eintracht Frankfurt had moved first, reaching an agreement on personal terms with Onyedika. However, their opening bid fell short of Club Brugge's demands, and the Belgian side rejected it outright.

Club Brugge are holding out for a fee of around €10 million for the 25-year-old. With one year left on his contract and Onyedika having already turned down an extension, Blauw-Zwart appear resigned to his departure this summer.

A key figure at Club Brugge

Onyedika arrived in Belgium from Danish club FC Midtjylland in 2022 and quickly grew into one of Club Brugge's most important players. During his time at the club, he contributed to multiple domestic title wins and cemented his place as a regular in the Super Eagles squad.

With two clubs now formally in the running, Club Brugge are in a position of strength as they seek to maximise the fee for one of their standout performers before his contract runs down.
