Breaking into professional football demands sacrifice — but for Alex Scott, the price of admission was steeper than most. Growing up in Guernsey, the England midfielder had to balance schoolwork, friendships, and a relentless schedule of flights to England just to pursue his dream.
Scott earned early development opportunities at Southampton and then Bournemouth, but the constant travel between the Channel Islands and the English mainland began to grind him down.
