Alex Scott Withdraws From England Squad With Tendon Injury

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has pulled out of the England squad after suffering a tendon injury during the 7-0 thrashing of Croatia.
Sky Sports News understands Scott will return to Bournemouth for further assessment to determine the full extent of the damage. Initial scans point to an absence of several weeks, though additional tests are planned before a clearer timeline can be established.
The 21-year-old had made his first England start in Rijeka, drawing warm praise from head coach Thomas Tuchel. Scott combined effectively with Elliot Anderson — his former U21s teammate — in a partnership that helped England dismantle Croatia. He had won the U21 European Championship alongside Anderson in 2025.
Scott requested to be substituted in the second half after feeling pain in the affected area and was subsequently sent for a scan to identify the issue.
Club future amid transfer interest
Sky Sports News had reported that Manchester City and Chelsea both registered interest in signing Scott during the summer transfer window. Bournemouth held firm, insisting the midfielder was not available for sale, with two years still remaining on his contract. The club faced no financial pressure to sanction a deal.
Scott's injury adds further uncertainty ahead of Bournemouth's return to Premier League action. Their first fixture after the international break is a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday.
