Angelo Agbejoye Signs Five-Year Deal With Swedish Club Djurgården

Nigerian winger Angelo Agbejoye has completed a move to Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgården, penning a five-year contract with the Stockholm club after departing local outfit Grassrunners FC.

At 18 years old, Agbejoye becomes Djurgården's first signing of the summer transfer window — a coup that required their scout Jonatan Axelsson to spend two weeks in Nigeria watching the youngster in person.

Agbejoye eager to make his mark

The winger made no secret of his excitement following the signing. "I am very happy and grateful to be here," Agbejoye said on the club's official website. "My main strengths are speed, attack, finesse, scoring, and hitting crucial passes, creating chances and, in short — win."

Djurgården scout convinced by Nigeria trip

Axelsson revealed that Djurgården's pursuit of the teenager had been building for some time before the transfer was finalised. "We have had a good knowledge of Angelo for a while now and the interest on our part has become more intense recently," the scout explained. "We have partly followed him closely via video, and partly I myself have been there in Nigeria for two weeks to see Angelo live in training and match play, as well as get to know him and his family."

Axelsson was effusive about the teenager's attributes, highlighting his technical quality and finishing ability alongside his pace. "Angelo is a playful left-footed player who thrives best as an outside forward on the right. He possesses a point at his speed combined with a fine technical package and is a skilled finisher," Axelsson added. "He is a young player and of course also has parts in his game that he needs to develop and he will get that time here. We see great potential in him and we are very happy that he has now signed for Djurgården."
