Nigeria Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare is on the verge of a loan move to Ajax, with the Dutch Eredivisie champions agreeing terms with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 25-year-old's temporary transfer.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X that a club-to-club agreement is already in place, with the deal structured as a season-long loan including a purchase option valued at slightly over €20 million.

"Ajax are closing in on a deal to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Wolves. Club-to-club agreement done on loan with buy option for a package slightly over €20m. Ajax wanted Tolu as their priority target, club sources confirm — now working on the final details."

Italian clubs beaten to his signature

Arokodare had drawn admiring glances from Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Genoa over recent weeks, but Ajax have moved decisively to secure their priority target ahead of the competition.

The Nigerian international joined Wolves from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk last summer and went on to make 33 Premier League appearances in his debut season, contributing three goals and one assist.

A chance for regular football

A switch to Ajax would give Arokodare a platform for consistent first-team action. The Amsterdam club are reinforcing their squad ahead of the new campaign and view the Super Eagles forward as a key addition to their attacking options.
