Tolu Arokodare marked his first goal for Ajax with a brace of contributions — a strike and an assist — as the Dutch club swept past Swiss side Sion 4-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League playoff on Thursday.

The Nigeria international entered the fray with 18 minutes remaining, replacing Marcos Leonardo off the bench. He needed little time to make his presence felt, slotting home Ajax's third goal in the 74th minute.

Arokodare was not finished there. Three minutes from the final whistle, he turned provider, teeing up Davy Klaassen to complete a commanding 4-2 victory for the visitors and round off an impressive cameo from the striker.

Return leg at the Johan Cruyff Arena

Ajax will host Sion in the second leg at the Johan Cruyff Arena next Tuesday, carrying a two-goal advantage into the tie. The aggregate winner will earn a berth in the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa Conference League.

Arokodare will be eager to build on this debut showing and cement his place in Sion Ajax's plans as the campaign progresses.
