Arsenal, the reigning Premier League champions, suffered a shock elimination from the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, beaten on penalties by Fleetwood Town — a club competing four divisions below them in English football.

The result stands as one of the most stunning upsets in this season's cup competition, with the top-flight giants falling to a side from the fourth tier of the English football pyramid.

Fleetwood Town secured their place in the next round after the shootout went in their favour, ending Arsenal's hopes of adding another trophy to their cabinet this term.
