Arsenal Eye Bayern Munich's Kim Min-jae in January Transfer Window

Arsenal are monitoring Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae ahead of the January transfer window, with Bild journalist Christian Falk reporting that the South Korea international is "officially" on the club's transfer list for the winter market.

Falk, writing on his platform CFBayernInsider, added that Bayern Munich could sanction a mid-season sale of the 29-year-old defender — a development that has alerted several clubs across Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur.

Defensive injury crisis forces Arsenal's hand

The reported interest comes at a difficult moment for manager Mikel Arteta, whose defensive options have been significantly reduced by injury. William Saliba — Arsenal's first-choice centre-back — has been absent this season and, while the France international has resumed individual training, he remains far from match fitness.

Fellow centre-back Piero Hincapie has suffered an ankle injury and is also set for time on the sidelines, compounding Arsenal's problems at the back.

Arteta currently has Gabriel, Ezri Konsa, and Cristhian Mosquera as his available senior centre-back options — a thin pool should injuries multiply further.

Kim among Europe's most sought-after defenders

Kim's potential availability has drawn attention well beyond Arsenal. TEAMtalk reports that at least two other clubs — one of them Tottenham Hotspur — have registered interest in the Bayern Munich and South Korea international, setting the stage for a possible bidding contest in January.

The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the most commanding centre-backs in European football since arriving at Bayern Munich, and his profile fits precisely the type of physically dominant, technically assured defender Arteta typically favours.
