Arsenal's home record
Since returning to European competition in 2023/24, Mikel Arteta's side have built an imposing record at the Emirates Stadium, winning 15 of 19 home matches and suffering only one defeat. The Gunners opened this season's Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory away to Napoli, and will arrive at this fixture confident of a similar outcome on home soil.
That confidence comes despite a testing week. Arsenal needed a comeback to beat Leeds United 2-1 on Saturday, and Arteta now faces a selection headache after defenders and midfielders Piero Hincapie and Martin Zubimendi both picked up ankle injuries in training following that victory. Neither started against Leeds United, but both had been expected to feature more against Lille. Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres are among those who could step into the XI.
A familiar face for the Gunners
The night carries an extra layer of nostalgia for Arsenal supporters. Lille striker Olivier Giroud — now 40 years old — returns to the Emirates Stadium, the ground he called home between 2012 and 2018. During that spell, Giroud scored 105 goals in 253 appearances and helped Arsenal lift the FA Cup on three occasions.
Giroud started Lille's 1-0 league win over Le Havre on Saturday but could be rotated, with Ayase Ueda pushing for a start after leading the line in Lille's 3-2 home defeat to Real Betis in their Champions League opener. Lille — managed by Davide Ancelotti, son of the legendary Carlo Ancelotti — have otherwise impressed in Ligue 1, collecting 13 points from their first six games to sit second in the table.
