Arsenal Lead January Race for RB Leipzig Winger Antonio Nusa

1 hour ago·2 min

Arsenal are leading the battle to bring RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa to the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window, with the reigning Premier League champions preparing an opening bid of around €40 million for the 21-year-old Norway international.

According to reports from Fussball News and TeamTalk, North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also in contention, but Arsenal's interest has been described as "particularly concrete" — placing them firmly ahead in the race for the explosive left winger.

Nusa's stunning form

Nusa has been one of the most eye-catching attackers in European football this season, contributing three goals and two assists in just six appearances. His most impressive display came in Leipzig's 5-0 demolition of Hamburg, in which he claimed a Man-of-the-Match award with a goal and two assists.

The Norwegian also played a prominent role as Norway reached the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals for the first time in their history — a landmark achievement that has only elevated his profile among Europe's top clubs.

Leipzig's firm stance

RB Leipzig have made clear they have no desire to sell Nusa in the winter window. The German club signed him from Club Brugge for €21 million in August 2024, and with his contract running until June 2029, they hold significant leverage in any negotiation. Leipzig have set an asking price in the region of €60–65 million — a figure they are calling "exceptional."

Manager Martin Demichelis is reportedly eager to retain Nusa at least until the end of the season, making any January deal an uphill task for interested parties.

The injury that sharpened Arsenal's focus

Arsenal's urgency in the market has been heightened by a hamstring injury suffered by Christos Tzolis, the club's sole left-wing addition this summer following the departures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Tzolis picked up the problem on international duty with Greece, leaving Arsenal short of options on the left flank.

Newcastle, Aston Villa, Roma, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona are also monitoring Nusa's progress, but none are reported to have moved as decisively as Arsenal at this stage.
