Arsenal Set to Bid £70m for Newcastle Captain Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal are preparing to table a £70 million offer for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes, with the Brazilian midfielder emerging as the club's top transfer priority this summer.

The 28-year-old is said to be keen on making the move to the Premier League champions, and Newcastle are aware of his preference. Talks between the clubs have been ongoing and are understood to have gathered pace in recent days.

However, it remains unclear whether Arsenal's £70 million valuation will satisfy Newcastle's asking price. The Gunners have shown a consistent reluctance to exceed their own ceiling on player valuations — a stance demonstrated when they declined to match Chelsea's £117 million deal for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, despite being offered the chance to do so. Arsenal had valued Rogers at no more than £80 million.

Defensive targets also in focus

Beyond midfield, Arsenal have identified Aston Villa and England defender Ezri Konsa as their primary defensive target this summer, with the club understood to have already made enquiries about his availability.

The Gunners are also monitoring Como's Jacobo Ramon as an additional defensive option, though contract clauses are reportedly complicating any potential deal for the Spaniard.

Ambitious attacking wish list

Up front, Arsenal's ambitions stretch furthest toward Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who has been described internally as the club's dream signing. Yet significant obstacles remain — Alvarez is understood to favour a move to Barcelona, and the fee required could surpass the British transfer record of £125 million set when Alexander Isak moved from Newcastle to Liverpool.

Arsenal have also looked into the possibility of signing Paris St-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as they search for attacking reinforcements following their failure to land Rogers.

The Gunners appear determined to invest heavily this window as they aim to build on their Premier League title success, even as they draw firm financial lines on each target they pursue.
