Arsenal to Appeal Max Dowman Red Card From Carabao Cup Fleetwood Tie

Arsenal have confirmed they will challenge the straight red card shown to teenager Max Dowman during their Carabao Cup first-round tie away at Fleetwood on Tuesday.
Dowman, 16, was dismissed in the 85th minute after his foot made contact with Fleetwood's Harrison Neal following a heavy challenge from the League Two defender. Officials judged the midfielder's reaction as worthy of a straight red, though Dowman did not fully follow through with a kick.
The match ended 1-1 before Fleetwood eliminated the Premier League champions from the competition, winning 5-3 on penalties.
Arteta's visible frustration
As Dowman trudged off the pitch, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta directed what appeared to be a sharp, angry comment at the youngster — a reaction captured by broadcast cameras at the ground.
The dismissal marks Dowman's second red card in the same month. He was also sent off earlier while on international duty with England Under-19s.
Arsenal's appeal will now be assessed by the Football Association, with the club hoping to have the ban overturned ahead of upcoming fixtures.
