Aston Villa brought Manchester City's perfect Premier League start to an abrupt end on Saturday, winning 2-1 at Villa Park thanks to a brace from Jhon Duran to claim a statement victory.

Manchester City had been in imperious form heading into the fixture, but Villa were relentless from the opening whistle and made their intentions clear with an energetic, high-pressing display that gave City little room to breathe.

Duran was the difference-maker, netting twice to hand Villa a lead they would not surrender. City pulled one back to set up a nervy finale, but Villa held firm to secure all three points and deal a significant blow to their opponents' title ambitions.

The result marks a significant moment in the Premier League season, with Villa announcing themselves as genuine contenders while City suffer their first defeat of the campaign.
