Bayern Munich Eye Liverpool Teenager Ngumoha in Potential Summer Move

2 hours ago·2 min

Bayern Munich have made enquiries about Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha, a 17-year-old widely regarded as one of English football's brightest young talents, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The German club have expressed interest in the teenager, though no face-to-face talks have taken place and no agreement over personal terms has been reached. Ngumoha is understood to be aware of the interest from Germany while currently attending a preparation camp in Florida as a supplementary member of the England squad.

Liverpool firm on keeping Ngumoha

Sources close to Liverpool are clear: Ngumoha is not for sale. The club consider him a key figure in their first-team plans, particularly in a position they are actively looking to reinforce.

Liverpool's pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande could, if successful, complicate Ngumoha's path to regular first-team football. That added competition may yet influence whether a departure becomes a genuine option, despite the club's firm stance that he is unavailable.

A record-breaking start at Anfield

Ngumoha's trajectory at Liverpool has been remarkable. He made his debut in January 2025 under then-manager Arne Slot — who was sacked last week — in a 4-0 FA Cup win over Accrington. At 16 years and 135 days old, he became the youngest player ever to start a match for Liverpool.

He announced himself on the Premier League stage in August with a stunning debut against Newcastle United, scoring twice — including a late winner — in a 3-2 victory at St. James' Park. He added one assist across the 2025-26 campaign.

From Chelsea academy to Merseyside

Ngumoha left Chelsea's academy in September 2024 to join Liverpool, signing his first professional contract with the club a year later. In February 2026, a tribunal determined that Liverpool must pay Chelsea at least £2.8 million for the winger, with additional fees possible through performance-related add-ons. Chelsea will also be entitled to 20 percent of any future profit should Liverpool choose to sell him.

Having represented England at multiple youth levels, Ngumoha's development continues to attract attention — and with Bayern Munich now circling, Liverpool may find their resolve tested in the months ahead.
