1 hour ago·1 min

The BBC has confirmed its full broadcast lineup for the Spain vs Belgium quarter-final at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the match kicking off at 8pm BST from the SoFi Stadium.

This is the second quarter-final of the tournament, following France's victory over Morocco the previous evening. The winner will face Didier Deschamps' France in the semi-finals.

Spain arrive at this stage after edging Portugal 1-0, while Belgium delivered one of the performances of the tournament, dismantling co-hosts USA 4-1 to book their place in the last eight.

Presenting and punditry

Kelly Cates leads the broadcast as presenter, bringing a multi-decade career in sports broadcasting to the SoFi Stadium showdown. The daughter of Sir Kenny Dalglish, Cates has become one of the most trusted voices in British football coverage.

Three former professionals join her in the studio, each with first-hand World Cup experience. Wayne Rooney — once England's all-time leading scorer before Harry Kane surpassed him — is part of the panel, and has drawn strong reviews in punditry circles this tournament.

Micah Richards completes the trio alongside Cesar Azpilicueta, the former Spain international and Chelsea stalwart whose analysis has been widely praised throughout the competition.

Commentary team

Steve Wilson takes the microphone as lead commentator, having been a consistent presence for the BBC across its North America coverage at this World Cup. Stephen Warnock joins him as co-commentator for the quarter-final.
