Brazil Face Haiti in World Cup 2026 Group C Clash

1 hour ago·2 min

Brazil enter their second game of the FIFA World Cup 2026 as heavy favourites against Haiti, with a significant gap in FIFA World Rankings separating the two sides — Brazil sit fifth while Haiti are ranked 85th.

Carlo Ancelotti's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco in their opening Group C fixture, a result that underlined the need for a stronger response. A brilliant finish from Vinicius Jr salvaged the point, though the performance as a whole left room for improvement.

Group C picture

With Haiti and Scotland as Brazil's remaining opponents, Ancelotti will be targeting seven points from the two remaining matches to advance from Group C in convincing fashion. Scotland, meanwhile, recorded their first World Cup win in 36 years in their opening game, while Haiti — appearing at the finals for the first time since 1974 — were beaten by a deflected goal but matched their opponents in shots on target and even edged the expected goals count.

Sébastien Migne's side showed resilience in defeat and will draw confidence from how competitive that result was. Nevertheless, the step up in class against Brazil in Philadelphia represents a far sterner test.

A lopsided history

History offers little comfort to Haiti ahead of this encounter. The two nations have met three times previously — twice in friendlies and once at the 2016 Copa America Centenario — with Brazil holding an aggregate score of 17-1 across those three meetings.

If Brazil find their rhythm, there is limited scope for Haiti to threaten. Raphinha was subdued against Morocco, and Ancelotti will demand more from his attacking players in what should be a more comfortable outing for A Seleção.

FourFourTwo's prediction

Brazil 4-0 Haiti — the gulf in quality is expected to prove too wide for Haiti to bridge, with Brazil needing a dominant performance to secure their place in the round of 32.
