Brentford have entered the running for Blackburn Rovers right-back Ryan Alebiosu, joining Scottish Premiership side Rangers in the pursuit of the Nigeria international.

Rangers have been monitoring Alebiosu as a candidate to replace former club captain James Tavernier, while Brentford are considering him as cover for Italy international Michael Kayode. Both clubs dispatched scouts to assess the defender in a pre-season fixture, though Alebiosu missed the match through illness.

A standout season at Ewood Park

Alebiosu arrived at Blackburn Rovers last summer from Belgian club KV Kortrijk for a fee of approximately £500k. He wasted little time making his mark, contributing one goal and five assists across 39 Championship appearances to cement himself as one of the club's key players.

His performances have drawn attention well beyond England. Clubs from Italy and Germany have registered interest in the right-back, and Blackburn Rovers rebuffed a €5 million offer from Italian side Genoa during the January transfer window.

Growing demand for the Super Eagles star

Everton and Wolfsburg have also been linked with Alebiosu, underscoring the broad appeal the 23-year-old has generated after a productive debut campaign in the Championship. Blackburn's firm stance in January signals they will demand a significant fee for the defender should they decide to sell this summer.
