Brighton in Advanced Talks to Sign Nigerian Winger Zadok Yohanna

4 days ago·1 min

Brighton are in advanced talks to sign AIK winger Zadok Yohanna, with the Swedish club confirming negotiations are under way with an unnamed club over a deal expected to be worth around £20 million.

According to Sky Sports, Brighton are the club in question and have established themselves as the frontrunners for the 18-year-old Nigerian's signature. There is growing confidence that a deal could be finalised as early as this week.

Strong competition for Yohanna

Yohanna has drawn considerable interest from multiple Premier League clubs, alongside sides in Germany and Spain. Brighton, however, have leveraged their well-established reputation for identifying and nurturing young talent to move ahead of the competition.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg winger Patrick Wimmer is listed among alternative targets Brighton are monitoring, though the Austrian international appears close to completing a switch to Hoffenheim.

Yohanna's rapid rise at AIK

Yohanna joined AIK in June 2025 on a contract running until 31 December 2029. He initially featured for the club's U-19 side, where he made an immediate impact — scoring four goals in just three appearances in the P19 Allsvenskan.

His performances earned him a place in first-team training, and he made his senior debut in August 2025, coming off the bench in the 89th minute of AIK's 2-1 defeat to IFK Göteborg at Gamla Ullevi.

In seven league appearances this season, Yohanna has scored two goals and contributed three assists — a return that has understandably attracted the attention of clubs across Europe.
