Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement with Millwall to sign Nigeria international winger Femi Azeez in a deal that could surpass £15 million.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a standout Championship campaign last season, netting 11 goals and setting up eight more in 37 appearances — a contribution that earned him a spot in the PFA Championship team of the year.

Azeez had made clear his desire to take the step up to the Premier League, and Millwall held firm through at least three rejected Brighton bids before the clubs finally reached an agreement.

The transfer represents a club record sale for Millwall, who will receive an initial £12.5 million, with performance-related add-ons pushing the total fee beyond £15 million.

Brighton's busy summer window

Azeez becomes Brighton's 11th arrival of the summer transfer window. The Seagulls' most expensive incoming deal remains their club record £45 million signing of Tottenham centre-back Luka Vuskovic.

Brighton have also been active on the selling side, most notably completing the £70 million sale of Carlos Baleba to Manchester United. Liverpool have additionally been linked with Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh.

Azeez's background and exit from Millwall

The winger arrived at Millwall from Reading for approximately £1 million in 2024 and has two years remaining on his contract. Despite his strong individual form, manager Alex Neil had omitted Azeez from Millwall's last three matchday squads, signalling that his departure was imminent.

Championship club Wrexham were also reported to have registered an interest in the attacker before Brighton secured the deal.
