South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has put his Bafana Bafana squad on notice ahead of their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group A clash with South Korea, cautioning that the Koreans are an exceptionally disciplined side capable of pressing for the full 90 minutes.
Bafana enter the fixture needing all three points to secure their first-ever berth in a World Cup knockout stage. South Africa drew 1-1 with Czech Republic in their second group game after suffering a 2-0 defeat to co-hosts Mexico in their opener.
South Korea, meanwhile, arrive at this decisive group stage match having beaten Czech Republic 2-1 before falling 1-0 to Mexico. Both sides are level on three points, making the contest a straight shootout for the round of 16.
Broos sounds the alarm
Speaking to media ahead of the match, Broos described South Korea as a side that falls somewhere between Mexico's physicality and Czechia's technical demands — but with a discipline all their own.
