Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the men's PFA Players' Player of the Year for the 2025/26 season, claiming one of English football's most prestigious individual honours.

Fernandes, who has led United throughout a demanding campaign, earned the award through votes cast by his fellow professionals — making the recognition all the more meaningful.

Shaw claims women's award

Manchester City striker Bunny Shaw took the women's equivalent, having played a central role in City's Women's Super League title triumph last season. The Jamaican forward's consistency and clinical finishing made her the standout choice among her peers.

Young players recognised

Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly collected the men's PFA Young Player of the Year award, while Arsenal's Olivia Smith was honoured with the women's equivalent, underlining the strength of young talent across the top flight.

EFL honours shared across the divisions

In the Championship, Hayden Hackett — the former Middlesbrough midfielder who completed a £24 million summer move to Everton — was named PFA Players' Player of the Year for the second tier.

Dom Ballard, who made the switch from Leyton Orient to Bristol City earlier this summer, claimed the League One prize. In League Two, Swindon striker Aaron Drinan rounded out the evening's honours.
