Premier League champions Arsenal have secured the signing of Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, with the midfielder joining on a four-year contract for a fee of £75 million.

The deal includes an option to extend by a further 12 months. Guimaraes departed Newcastle's training camp in La Manga, Spain, earlier this week to complete the formalities at Emirates Stadium after talks reached a conclusion.

A career built across three countries

Guimaraes began his professional journey in Brazil, making his senior debut for Audax — a São Paulo-based club — in 2015, before moving to Athletico Paranaense two years later. At Athletico, he developed into one of Brazil's most promising young midfielders, helping the club claim four major trophies.

In January 2020, he crossed to Europe with a move to Lyon, spending two seasons in Ligue 1 and cementing his reputation as one of the continent's most complete midfield talents.

Four and a half seasons at St James' Park

Guimaraes arrived at Newcastle United in January 2022 and went on to make nearly 200 appearances across four-and-a-half seasons at St James' Park. His influence in the engine room proved decisive as Newcastle lifted the Carabao Cup in 2025 and secured UEFA Champions League qualification across two separate campaigns.

At international level, the 28-year-old has earned 48 caps for Brazil. He featured at the recent FIFA World Cup, has appeared in the Copa America, and won a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
