Cabo Verde's Head of State, Dr Janira Hopffer Almada, is set to stand alongside CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe at the opening session of the CAF Strategy Conference, held in Santa Maria on Sal Island, Cabo Verde, on Thursday, 8 October 2026.

The opening session begins at 09h00 local time — 10h00 GMT and 13h00 Cairo time — and will be broadcast live on CAF TV.

A landmark gathering for African football

The conference brings together the presidents of CAF's 54 Member Associations, Zonal Union presidents, CAF Executive Committee members, national team coaches, technical directors, and leading international football experts. FIFA President Gianni Infantino is also scheduled to attend.

The three-day event will focus on the growth and development of football across the continent, drawing on lessons from Africa's record-breaking participation at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Delegates will also map out a pathway toward greater ambitions at the FIFA World Cup 2030.
