Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe has firmly dismissed calls for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign, insisting that the organization's 211 member associations must determine his future through the ballot box at the 2027 election.

Motsepe's remarks come amid a swirling governance dispute within global football. Infantino has faced mounting pressure from factions in European and other confederations, largely driven by controversy over a proposed private investment scheme for international tournaments.

CAF stands firm behind democratic process

Despite the dissent emanating from parts of the football world, CAF's executive committee and all 54 of its member associations have maintained a united front in support of Infantino — pointing in particular to his role in securing expanded African representation at the FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to Sky News on Wednesday, Motsepe made clear that any attempt to remove a leader must follow proper democratic channels rather than external pressure campaigns.
