The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will deploy a 15-man inspection delegation to Nigeria this Friday, marking the second and final site visit ahead of two major events the country is set to host: the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.

The General Assembly is scheduled to take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Saturday, November 21, while the 2026 CAF Awards — the continent's most prestigious football honours ceremony — will be held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos on Monday, December 7.

What the delegation will assess

Led by CAF's Head of Safety and Security, Dr. Christian Emeruwa, the team is expected to touch down in Lagos on Friday afternoon. There, officials will carry out detailed assessments of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Eko Hotel & Suites, and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, alongside meetings with Lagos State Government representatives.

The delegation will then move to Abuja, where they will inspect the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The team is also due to pay courtesy visits to the Chairman and the Director-General of the National Sports Commission.

Throughout both legs of the tour, the CAF team will be joined by a six-man contingent from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), headed by Dr. Ademola Olajire.

Building on the first inspection

A first inspection mission was conducted between July 31 and August 4, during which CAF officials met executives from the institutions and agencies responsible for staging the two events across Lagos and Abuja. Those meetings produced an agreement on continuous communication to ensure both gatherings are delivered in a seamless, innovative, and forward-looking manner.
