Cardiff City are on the verge of completing the signing of Jack Moylan, the midfielder who played a pivotal role in Lincoln City's League One title-winning campaign last season.

Moylan, 24, contributed 11 goals and six assists as the Imps claimed the League One title ahead of Cardiff — making his switch to South Wales all the more noteworthy. He will join up with manager Brian Barry-Murphy, a fellow Irishman, at Cardiff City Stadium.

Hat-trick on international debut

Moylan's outstanding club form earned him a first call-up to the Republic of Ireland national team, and he wasted no time making an impression. The midfielder marked his international debut with a hat-trick in a commanding 5-0 victory over Grenada.

Previously, Moylan represented Bohemians and Shelbourne before moving to Lincoln City, where his performances caught the eye of Championship rivals — including, ultimately, Cardiff.

Second summer arrival

If confirmed, Moylan would become Cardiff's second summer signing, following goalkeeper Nathan Trott, who joined the club in May.

The Bluebirds head into the new season with momentum, having beaten Italian club Roma 4-1 in their most recent outing. Cardiff next host Swindon Town in the first round of the EFL Cup on Saturday, 8 August (15:00 BST), before their Championship campaign gets under way against Welsh rivals Wrexham at Cardiff City Stadium on Monday, 17 August (20:00 BST).
