Celtic Close to Signing Qarabag Forward Duran as Scottish Transfer Window Heats Up

2 hours ago·3 min

Celtic are in advanced talks with Qarabag over a move for forward Camilo Duran, with the Glasgow club pushing to make the 24-year-old Colombian their first summer acquisition. An initial bid of £1.7 million was turned down by the Azerbaijani side, who are now holding out for a fee in the region of £3 million, though both clubs remain hopeful of striking a deal.

Celtic's busy summer agenda

Beyond the Duran pursuit, Celtic have agreed a fresh one-year contract with midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who had attracted interest from several clubs across Europe. The 32-year-old will remain in Glasgow for another season.

Celtic are also reported to be targeting 21-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine, who caught the eye during a loan stint at Preston North End last term. Additionally, the club have beaten off competition from major English sides to hand 16-year-old goalkeeper Warren Lyall his first professional contract, with the teenager arriving from Dundee, who will receive a compensation fee.

Goalkeeper Josh Clarke's situation has also drawn attention — Doncaster Rovers are pursuing the 21-year-old despite him having agreed a pre-contract with Partick Thistle following the expiry of his Celtic deal.

Rangers activity and the Chermiti valuation

Rangers are at the centre of several stories across the transfer market. Atalanta have made contact over Belgium midfielder Nicolas Raskin, though the 25-year-old is valued at more than £17 million and any deal is expected to be delayed until after the World Cup concludes.

Lyon have been linked with a bid under £17 million for striker Youssef Chermiti, but that figure is reported to fall well short of Rangers' £25 million asking price for the 22-year-old. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur's 18-year-old winger Mikey Moore, who spent last season on loan at Rangers, is set to be loaned out again, with clubs from the Bundesliga and Eredivisie registering interest.

Rangers are also said to be monitoring 20-year-old Troyes defender Sankhoun Diawara, with Troyes head coach Stephane Dumont acknowledging that players could depart this summer.

Scottish striker Robbie Ure attracts European interest

Scottish forward Robbie Ure, 22, has emerged as one of the summer's most sought-after names after netting four goals for Swedish club Sirius against champions Mjällby on Saturday. Lyon and Hoffenheim are among the clubs tracking the former Rangers youth product, and Ure himself has admitted a big-money move would be difficult to decline.

Aberdeen, Hearts, and the rest

Aberdeen are set to recoup most of the £400,000 fee they spent on Nicolas Milanovic last summer, with the 24-year-old keen to return to Australia and his former club Western Sydney Wanderers close to an agreement. The Pittodrie club are also due a five-figure sell-on percentage from Cape Verde winger Duk's move from Leganes to Atlas.

Chelsea have agreed terms to sign 17-year-old Hearts centre-back Alfie Osborne on a long-term deal, fending off interest from clubs throughout Europe. Hearts will pocket a six-figure compensation fee in return.

Hearts forward Sabri Guendouz, meanwhile, has revealed he turned down approaches from AZ Alkmaar as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia, Sweden, and Belgium before committing to the Scottish Premiership side.

Dundee are on the verge of signing Slovenian midfielder Zan Besir, 25, following his departure from Primorje, while striker Mikael Mandron has rejected a new deal at St Mirren — with Leicester City and Charlton Athletic among those monitoring the free agent.
