Cesar Peixoto Named Wolves Head Coach After Rob Edwards Departure

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of Cesar Peixoto as their new head coach, with the Portuguese manager signing a two-year deal at Molineux.

Peixoto steps into the role vacated by Rob Edwards, who was sacked last week after just seven months in charge — a dismissal that drew considerable controversy at the club.

The 46-year-old arrives from Portuguese side Gil Vicente, where he managed 46 games and recorded 16 victories since taking charge in 2025.

Peixoto's ambitions at Molineux

Speaking to the club's official website, Peixoto made clear his intentions for the struggling West Midlands club, who suffered relegation from the Premier League.

"I'm proud to be here at this big, historic club in England. It's a big opportunity for me and I'm prepared to do everything to put Wolves where it belongs in the Premier League."

The new head coach spoke about stamping his identity on the squad and pushing the team to improve further under his guidance.

"We have great players, but I think the team can improve a lot with me and I can improve as a technical head coach. I want to put my identity onto the team, build a strong identity at the club and also help the team to grow by showing my identity and my way of playing."

Peixoto also emphasised a desire to reflect the spirit of the city of Wolverhampton through the team's style of play, promising an attacking and organised brand of football.

"It's a hard-working city with a lot of energy and a lot of passion, and I want them to see a team which plays an offensive game, with good organisation and a team who play for the fans."

He concluded with a rallying message for supporters, outlining the club's primary objective as an immediate return to the top flight.

"I want the supporters to be proud of our players, be proud of the way we play and the way we fight game after game to bring the victory, and to achieve the main aim, which is to put Wolves back in the Premier League."
